"Old Man and the Moon"

from $55.00

The Old Man of Storr rock formation stands atop the mountain of Storr, with a half moon as his companion.

This view is from Trotternish Ridge on the Isle of Skye in Scotland, UK. The word Storr comes from Old Norse and means “big” or “great.” Locals often speak of ancient tales where giants once roamed the Isle of Skye. One particular legend holds that the Old Man of Storr was a giant himself. He lived on the Isle and, when he passed away, was laid to rest with his thumb poking out of the earth. This “thumb” is what we now refer to as the Old Man of Storr.

This is also available as a canvas print here.
